Projects

Everyone’s needs are different and each and every application requires a tailored response. Jake Woodward has obtained hundreds of consents for Clients all over New Zealand, ranging from small rural dwellings to the largest Distillery in the Country.

Scapegrace Distillery

Scapegrace is a globally renowned, award-winning distillery located in Central Otago. The brand held the title of the World’s Best London Dry Gin in 2018, beating more than 600 other gin companies from 60 different countries in a New Zealand first.

Scapegrace holds a comprehensive resource consent to construct and operate a world-class distillery, barrel hall and restaurant on the shores of Lake Dunstan. The consent also allows for tours, tastings, functions and helicopter landings.

Jake continues to provide valuable planning advice to Scapegrace as they embark on their journey.

Cambridge Raceway Townhouse Development

Jake Woodward was engaged by Cambridge Raceway to secure the required resource consents for a comprehensive 34-lot townhouse development.

Jake pulled together the necessary team of surveyors, architects, engineers and contaminated land specialists to support the resource consent application. Through collaborating with the local Council staff, the application was processed non-notified despite exceeding the minimum density allowed for in the Zone by almost double.

Clyde Courthouse Redevelopment

Working alongside renowned architect Case Ornsby and heritage advisors, Origin Consultants, Jake Woodward was engaged to obtain resource consents for the redevelopment of a Category Two Heritage Building (Clyde Courthouse) in Clyde to incorporate a residential dwelling extension.

The proposal required extensive collaboration with Heritage New Zealand and Council to ensure a design that retains the heritage values of the Courthouse while optimising the residential amenities for the Client.

Queenstown Multi-Unit Visitor Accommodation Development

Jake Woodward was appointed to advise and oversee the development of a multi-unit townhouse development on Queenstown Hill, and to secure visitor accommodation for 365 days per annum.

Jake's experience and expertise of the District Plan and local context provided valuable representation for the Client to obtain the desired consents for an otherwise complex application.

Jake continues to provide planning advice to the Client across the District.

Central Otago Rural Subdivision Development

Jake Woodward was engaged to facilitate the acquisition of resource consents for a 16-Lot Rural Subdivision in Central Otago, consisting of eight premium rural-lifestyle allotments, roading infrastructure and larger rural blocks to support intensive horticulture and viticulture.

Jake provided the necessary advice and experience to ensure the correct specialists were engaged at the front end of the process, which resulted in the subdivision being approved non-notified.

Earnscleugh Church Residential Redevelopment

Jake Woodward was engaged to provide preliminary planning advice on the redevelopment of the Earnscleugh Church to assist the Client and Architects with a residential dwelling extension.

Jake prepared the necessary resource consents for the development and has subsequently provided ongoing advice and further variations as the Client’s development evolves with new ideas.

Lawrence Chinese Community Camp

Situated just outside the township of Lawrence, Otago, the Lawrence Chinese Camp was established in 1867 during the Otago gold rush era. It was the first and the largest Chinese goldmining settlement in New Zealand. The Camp is undergoing an exciting redevelopment to preserve and enhance the historic and cultural significance of this important landmark.

Jake Woodward was the preferred planning consultant to prepare and facilitate the resource consent process on behalf of the Trust, working alongside a suite of heritage advisors and landscape consultants. Jake coordinated the necessary consultation with the New Zealand Transport Agency and Council to obtain the consents required to enable the redevelopment to occur.

St Bathans Closed Landfill Remedial Works

Jake Woodward was engaged by Central Otago District Council to prepare, manage and facilitate the acquisition of both District and Regional consents to undertake remedial works of the St Bathans Closed Landfill.

The project required a suite of resource consents from both the District and Regional Councils and involved the specific coordination of contaminated land specialists, ecologists and hydrologists.

Jake facilitated the necessary pre-application meetings and coordination of the team to deliver the granting of all resource consents.

Cromwell Industrial Zone Subdivision

Jake Woodward is regularly engaged to obtain the necessary consents for subdivision and development in Industrial Areas.

Jake was engaged to facilitate the subdivision of an Industrial site in Cromwell and ensure the compliance of the subsequent buildings that occupy the site.
